The Matecumbe 18 is described as born and bred in Islamorada, Florida, starting with a Chris Morejohn designed hull that has been enhanced by the Matecumbe team. The page states a standard vacuum infused carbon/aramid lamination for lightweight bulletproof construction, and notes that at 18' length with 77" beam and up to 115 hp, the skiff can be optimized for poling or tarpon/permit fishing, with multiple console and storage configuration options.

The Matecumbe 180 is a strong-performing skiff with fit and finish that looks on par with brands like Floyd and East Cape. It feels like a well-built boat, and overall quality is one of the first things that stands out. On the water, it performs well and carries itself like a solid technical skiff. That said, it does draft a bit heavier than some others in its class, generally in the 7- to 10-inch range depending on load and setup, so it may not be the top choice if your main priority is extreme shallow-water capability. There are also a few design details that may come down to personal preference. I’m not a huge fan of the hatch lid design, and the rod racks could be better thought out. They work, but loading and unloading rods can be more of a hassle than it should be. Overall, the Matecumbe 180 is a quality skiff with strong performance and premium-looking construction, but it gives up a little on draft and fishability details compared to some of the top boats in the category.
